Dental Square "Crown & Bridges / Veneer"
Crowns

A crown is a dental restoration that covers your entire tooth. While fillings just fill cavities and fit inside your tooth, a dental crown will cover the entire tooth and will replace the entire chewing surface of the tooth. Some people call this a "cap."

A crown is a restoration that covers a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size. Its purpose is to strengthen or improve the appearance of a tooth. Crowns may be needed to protect a tooth when it is unable to support a large filling, to attach a bridge, to protect a weak tooth from breakage, to cover badly shaped or discolored teeth, or to cover dental implants. Fitting a crown generally takes at least 2 visits to the dentist.

Why dental crowns are needed:
A crown is placed to prevent a tooth from breaking. As we get older, we are more prone to breaking teeth. If a tooth has a large filling, it is more prone to cracking or breaking. A crown, especially if it has metal in it, will help protect a tooth against breaking. Some people can break back teeth even if they have small fillings or no fillings in the tooth—their occlusion is that powerful.

Bridges:
A dental bridge is a mode of tooth replacement that anchors a false tooth between two surrounding teeth. Bridges replace missing teeth and offer not only support for the surrounding teeth but prevent them from moving or shifting in the mouth. It helps retain the integrity of the jaw and face structure. This method of tooth replacement eliminates aesthetic concerns associated with tooth loss and restores the function of your teeth is the primary concern. A bridge allows the dentist to replace lost teeth without the use of a denture or dental implant. The disadvantage is that the teeth next to the space have to be prepared in a similar way to a crown in order to accept the bridge.
A Permanent Bridge is permanently bonded in place, unlike a partial denture (sometimes called a removable bridge); patients cannot remove them. There are three main kinds of bridges. In a traditional bridge, the pontic ("false tooth") is fused between the two crowns of the abutment teeth on either side. In a Maryland bridge, a metal band (hidden from view) binds the pontic to the abutment teeth. A cantilever bridge is necessary when there is an abutment tooth on only one side of the pontic. Maryland bridges work best when the teeth are front teeth adjoining healthy teeth that do not have large fillings.
A Permanent Bridge is usually anchored to the teeth on both sides of the space from the missing tooth. This gives the bridge strong support. Brushing a bridge is no different than brushing natural teeth, but special flossing instructions are given to keep the bridge and surrounding tissue healthy.
Veneers

Veneers are a thin shell made out of porcelain or composite material. They are custom made and cemented to the front side of the tooth. A veneer can be used to treat dental conditions such as a slightly crooked tooth; discolored teeth, chipped teeth or they can even be used to cover spaces in between the teeth. A veneer can be made by the dentist or in a dental laboratory, depending on the materials used and the preference of the dentist. Veneers do not require the massive grinding of tooth structure that caps do, yet, they accomplish a lifelike esthetic result

Do you have discolored teeth or teeth with spaces between them? With veneers you can change the shape and length of your teeth. Veneers are thin, durable shells designed to cover the front of the teeth and are typically made of porcelain and are extremely durable, stain resistant, and easy to maintain.Veneers are new enamel placed over the teeth to result in a gorgeous new smile.

Porcelain Veneers retain their beautiful luster and vitality, as they are much stronger and more durable than plastic composite bonding. Sometimes composites will stain or shrink with age, but veneers will not. The best part is that there are no age group limitations. Everyone can benefit, young and old alike.
Bonding of Veneers: First, the dentist places the veneers with water or glycerin on the teeth to check the fitting and get a sense of the shade or color. While the veneers are resting on the teeth, the esthetic results are viewed with particular attention to the colour. At this point, the colour of the veneers can still be adjusted with the shade of the cement to be used. The colour cannot be altered after veneers are cemented. To apply the veneer, the tooth is cleansed with specific chemicals to achieve a bond. Once special cement is placed between the veneer and tooth, a light beam initiates the release of a catalyst to harden the cement.

Porcelain (Ceramic) veneers (Advantages) The biggest advantage of a veneer is that too little tooth material is removed and hence won't weaken the tooth structure. It is also rightly called as "CLONED ENAMEL"
